Do As We Say, Not As We Do!

Mr. Green, he isn’t. Al Gore uses a bit of electricity. Like 20 times the average.

The average household in America consumes 10,656 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per year, according to the Department of Energy. In 2006, Gore devoured nearly 221,000 kWh—more than 20 times the national average.

Last August alone, Gore burned through 22,619 kWh—guzzling more than twice the electricity in one month than an average American family uses in an entire year. As a result of his energy consumption, Gore’s average monthly electric bill topped $1,359.

Since the release of An Inconvenient Truth, Gore’s energy consumption has increased from an average of 16,200 kWh per month in 2005, to 18,400 kWh per month in 2006.

How inconvenient. I guess all those security systems eat up a lot of electricity! Hat tip to Glenn.

Ah, but he purchases indulgences, I mean carbon offsets, to make it all better! Interestingly enough, he’s the chairman and co-founder of the company that sells these carbon offsets, so the money never really changes hands. He also has a ‘green’ stock broker firm. I am in awe of Al Gore: he’s making megabucks, fleecing the fools better than any conman, and it’s all legal.

You should see Jesse Jackson’s set-up. Multiple boards, foundations, institutes, etc. all of which he gets fees or salary from, most of which he set up himself, and then when companies are brought to heel and forced to donate to, say, ‘a variety of racially diverse educational and economic foundations promoting African-American causes.’ guess which ones the money gets steered to?

    Legalized shakedown racket.
