Pajama Jam

The editorial board of the once and again Pajamas Media held a blogjam to discuss the opening day fiasco in “The Turkey That Laid The Golden Egg.” As Glenn Reynolds comments:

I think that overall the Pajamas / OSM operation has relied too much on the services of consultants and experts. They know stuff, but the results tend to be, well, corporate and sterile. And don’t even start me on the “branding” experts. I hope the check hasn’t cleared yet. . . . .

    But… but… Laurence, they’ve got a NEW LOGO!! It’s the ultimate–who needs forums?

Although at this point I think the problem is they would need to spend some of that $3.5m in venture capital to hire several moderators full time. Otherwise all the left-sphere folks that have been dancing in joy at PJM’s stumble (ok, face-plant) out of the gate would be flooding their forums with attack posts, spam, and so on. A few on the center and right would join them. There are some people who never feel so tall as when they are standing on the knifed back of another.

I’m happy to see that they’ve resolved the name issue quickly and logically; PJM should never have abandoned the original name. But the next big challenge on their doorstep is content. They don’t have enough yet.

As I’ve said all along, I want to see them succeed. The learning curve they are facing is steep, but not unclimbable.
